Despite our best efforts, in some situations, there is simply nothing we can do to save a damaged tooth. In these cases, Dr. Lam is able to provide comfortable extractions right here at our dental office in Wheaton. She can provide all kinds of extractions in-house, and when necessary, she can help a patient choose how they want to replace the tooth beforehand so any time spent with missing teeth is kept to a minimum. It should be noted that we will only extract a tooth after literally exhausting all other options!

Why You Might Need a Tooth Extraction
We may recommend a tooth extraction if:
- A cavity is too large to be repaired with a crown or filling
- A tooth is so broken that it cannot be put back together
- Advanced periodontal (gum) disease has damaged the bone supporting a tooth
- A baby tooth needs to be removed to make way for an erupting adult tooth
- Room needs to be created in the mouth for an upcoming orthodontic treatment or denture
- A tooth has become impacted (stuck), painful, or infected (usually the wisdom teeth)
